FALLS, OWAMBO, ETOSHA PARK This specialised Safari will give you an insight into the unique culture of the Himba and the Owambo people, as well as offer exceptional game viewing opportunities in the famous Etosha National Park. Day 1 + 2: Early-morning departure from Kavita Lion Lodge, travelling northwards to Opuwo, the capital 'city' of the Kaokoveld, on to the magnificient Epupa Falls in the Kunene river, the border between Namibia and Angola. Two nights at the tented 'Epupa Camp' (or alternative) will provide spectacular sight-seeing, walks near the Epupa Falls, a visit to a Himba settlement, where you will witness an age-old culture, traditional garb, festivities in various forms - the semi-nomadic lifestyle of the Kaokoland wilderness. Day 3 + 4: takes you via Ruacana to Oshakati, the metropolis of Owambo. Witness the Owambo people going about their daily business at the local market and visit a traditional village-museum at Olukondo. With two nights at the Oshakati Country Lodge, there will be ample opportunity to gain valuable insight into the lifestyle of the Owambo people, Namibia's largest ethnic group. Day 5 + 6: destination Etosha National Park, with game viewing in the afternoon and an overnight stay at a Lodge, just outside of the Park (or alternative accommodation). The next day will be spent game viewing, with stops at the numerous waterholes in eastern Etosha. Overnight at Halali or Okaukuejo Rest Camp, where the floodlit waterholes attract a large variety of wildlife, an experience never to be forgotten. On our 7th day, we head back to Kavita Lion Lodge, through the western part of Etosha.
